| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jan Sanders is retiring as assistant city secretary |

| 6 | 7 | | for the City of Amarillo in 2021, and the conclusion of her |

| 7 | 8 | | outstanding tenure provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on the |

| 8 | 9 | | numerous contributions made by this esteemed public servant; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Sanders first joined the City of Amarillo in |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | October 1989, and during her more than 31 years with the city, she |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | has ably served in a variety of capacities; since becoming |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | assistant city secretary, she has played a vital role in such |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | essential tasks as maintaining city records, conducting municipal |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | elections, preparing official documents and council agendas, and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | providing secretarial assistance to the city manager and the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | elected members of city government; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Renowned for her efficiency and attention to detail |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | as well as her compassion and unselfish character, Ms. Sanders has |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | provided a welcome sense of stability at city hall, having worked |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | with six mayors, five city managers, and numerous council members |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | in her time as a city employee; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The effective operation of government depends on the |

| 23 | 24 | | able and dedicated efforts of our public servants, and Jan Sanders |

| 24 | 25 | | may indeed take pride in her accomplishments as she looks ahead to |

| 25 | 26 | | the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jan Sanders on her retirement from |

| 28 | 29 | | the City of Amarillo and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
