| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Xavier Herrera has been elected to the Stafford City |

| 6 | 7 | | Council, and he is indeed deserving of special recognition; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Sworn into office on March 3, 2021, Mr. Herrera |

| 8 | 9 | | serves in council position no. 5; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In fulfilling the duties of his office, Mr. Herrera |

| 10 | 11 | | draws on a wealth of valuable experience; he is an alumnus of the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | University of Houston, where he studied political science, and he |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | has held several positions with the City of Houston and Harris |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | County; he currently serves as communications director for the Fort |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Bend County Judge's Office; moreover, he was elected in 2015 as a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | trustee of the Stafford Municipal School District, which he helps |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | lead as vice president; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Herrera is a member of numerous civic |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | organizations, including the National Association of Latino |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Elected and Appointed Officials, the Texas Association of School |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Boards, and the Playworks Texas board of directors; in addition, he |

| 21 | 22 | | gives generously of his time and expertise to such charitable |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | groups as the Gulfton Area Student Mentoring Program, Special |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Olympics Texas, and Rebuilding Together Houston; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of |

| 25 | 26 | | life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts |

| 26 | 27 | | of Xavier Herrera will help to make Stafford an even better place in |

| 27 | 28 | | which to live and work; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Xavier Herrera on his election to |

| 30 | 31 | | the Stafford City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
