45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
67 a close with the passing of Sergeant Lyle Gene Denny of the
78 Panhandle Police Department on December 7, 2020, at the age of 66;
89 and
910 WHEREAS, Born on February 15, 1954, Lyle Denny was the son of
1011 Kenneth and Elsie Denny, and he grew up with the companionship of
1112 two siblings, Linda and Brian; and
1213 WHEREAS, Sergeant Denny began his career in law enforcement
1314 with the Amarillo Police Department in 1976, and he subsequently
1415 served with the Canyon PD from 1978 to 1991; after working security
1516 for 16 years at Pantex, he became a sergeant with the Panhandle PD;
1617 during his tenure, he spent three years as a school resource officer
1718 with the Panhandle Independent School District, and he took a keen
1819 interest in the students and staff, earning their respect and
1920 affection; at the time of his passing, he held the office of
2021 assistant chief of police; and
2122 WHEREAS, Active in his community, Sergeant Denny was a past
2223 Master Mason at Panhandle Masonic Lodge and a member of the Blue
2324 Knights, Cal-Tex Riders, and Wild Hogs; and
2425 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Sergeant Denny enjoyed the
2526 love and support of his wife, Ronda, with whom he shared nearly five
2627 decades, and he took great pride in his daughter, Nikkie; with the
2728 passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to
2829 include two granddaughters, Lyndsie and Macie; and
2930 WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a respected law enforcement
3031 professional, Lyle Denny will be deeply missed, and memories of his
3132 warmth and generosity will remain to comfort all those who knew and
3233 loved him; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Lyle Gene
3536 Denny and extend sincere condolences to his family: to his wife,
3637 Ronda Denny; to his daughter, Nikkie Jacobs, and her husband, Matt;
3738 to his granddaughters, Lyndsie and Macie Jacobs; to his sister,
3839 Linda Cintella; to his brother, Brian Denny; to his four nephews;
3940 and to his many friends; and, be it further
4041 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4142 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4243 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sergeant
4344 Lyle Denny.
