| 6 | 7 | | recognition when Andrea Daniella Mata was named a University of |

| 7 | 8 | | Texas at El Paso Top Ten Senior for 2021; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Presented by the UTEP Alumni Association, the award |

| 9 | 10 | | recognizes the university's most promising graduating or recently |

| 10 | 11 | | graduated seniors; honorees are chosen on the basis of multiple |

| 11 | 12 | | criteria, including academic achievement, involvement, leadership, |

| 12 | 13 | | and service, both in the community and on campus; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Andrea Mata has demonstrated a strong work ethic |

| 14 | 15 | | during her years at UTEP, where she has majored in sociology and |

| 15 | 16 | | earned such impressive awards as an Archer Fellowship and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | scholarships from the BUILDing SCHOLARS program, the Virginia G. |

| 17 | 18 | | Banos Endowed Scholarship Fund, and Houston Endowment, among |

| 18 | 19 | | others; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In addition to pursuing her studies, Ms. Mata has |

| 20 | 21 | | completed several research fellowships and served as an intern for |

| 21 | 22 | | U.S. Representative Beto O'Rourke; in the fall of 2021, she will be |

| 22 | 23 | | attending Michigan State University on a full scholarship to earn a |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Ph.D. in special education, and she hopes to one day establish a |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | nonprofit learning center for El Paso students with learning |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | disabilities; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through the dedication she has demonstrated in all |

| 27 | 28 | | her endeavors, Andrea Daniella Mata has built a strong foundation |

| 28 | 29 | | for continued achievement, and she is indeed deserving of this |

| 29 | 30 | | prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
