| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jose Armendariz of John J. Pershing Elementary |

| 6 | 7 | | School has been named the 2021 Primary Teacher of the Year in the |

| 7 | 8 | | Dallas Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Armendariz first joined the faculty of John J. |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Pershing Elementary as a bilingual teacher in 2004; over the course |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | of his 17 years with the school, he has had an impact in almost every |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | teaching assignment on the campus, and he played an instrumental |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | role in reestablishing the Pershing Lions PTA; since 2016, he has |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | been a member of the Dallas ISD Bilingual English as a Second |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Language Cadre, and he has been featured in educational programming |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | through the Univision television network; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | where he earned a master's degree in business administration, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Mr. Armendariz worked for three years at a U.S. Consulate before |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | beginning his career as an educator; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Jose Armendariz exemplifies the passion, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | best teachers, and he has set a standard of excellence to which all |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | in his profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jose Armendariz on his selection as |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | the 2021 Primary Teacher of the Year in the Dallas Independent |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | School District and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |

| 32 | 33 | | success with his important work; and, be it further |
