5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thompson-Frenk of Dallas celebrated her |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Debra Rutherford Thompson and John |

9 | 10 | | Philp Thompson Jr., the former Mary Ann Thompson was born in Mexico |

10 | 11 | | in 1977 and grew up in Dallas; as a child, she experienced hearing |
---|
11 | 12 | | loss and other health issues, but she learned from her father to |
---|
12 | 13 | | embrace challenges as opportunities to grow stronger and find ways |
---|
13 | 14 | | to make the world a better place; she became an admired artist, |
---|
14 | 15 | | receiving such major accolades as the ARTV Sculptor of the Year |
---|
15 | 16 | | award; in addition, she has served on the advisory board of the |
---|
16 | 17 | | Visual Arts Coalition of Dallas, which represents more than 7,500 |
---|
17 | 18 | | artists, and she donated space to the organization; and |

18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Thompson-Frenk has been very involved in |

19 | 20 | | philanthropy, human rights, and the environment, as well as the |
---|
20 | 21 | | arts, and she has served on the boards of numerous worthwhile |
---|
21 | 22 | | organizations; with her husband, Joshua Frenk, she founded the |
---|
22 | 23 | | Memnosyne Institute, and she serves as president of the |
---|
23 | 24 | | organization, which encourages positive, peaceful global |
---|
24 | 25 | | collaboration in all areas of knowledge; during the COVID-19 |
---|
25 | 26 | | pandemic, Ms. Thompson-Frenk guided the Memnosyne Institute in |

26 | 27 | | addressing the need for KN95 reusable masks for indigenous |

27 | 28 | | communities across the country; the couple also established the |
---|
28 | 29 | | John Philp Thompson Foundation, which supports research on |
---|
29 | 30 | | non-radiation/non-chemotherapy cures for glioblastoma; much in |
---|
30 | 31 | | demand internationally as a speaker, Ms. Thompson-Frenk has |

31 | 32 | | addressed organizations from the United Nations and TEDx to the |

32 | 33 | | Parliament of World Religions; she was the first major investor in |

33 | 34 | | Dallas-based Women That Soar; among numerous accolades, she has |

34 | 35 | | received the 2018 Civic Pioneer Award and the Southern Methodist |

36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, With the passage of another year, Mary Ann |

39 | 40 | | made in behalf of her fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it |
