45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Veteran Women's Enterprise Center is hosting an
67 event to mark the fourth annual Women Veterans Day on June 12, 2021;

89 WHEREAS, The founder and director of the Veteran Women's
910 Enterprise Center is V. R. Small, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy
1011 and a dynamic advocate for women veterans; she testified in support
1112 of the bill passed in 2017 by the 85th Texas Legislature that
1213 designated June 12 of each year as Women Veterans Day; the inaugural
1314 observance fell on the 70th anniversary of the passage of the
1415 Women's Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, which enabled women
1516 to serve as permanent, regular members of the U.S. Army, Navy,
1617 Marine Corps, and Air Force; and
1718 WHEREAS, Through the years, increasing numbers of American
1819 women have joined the nation's military, and their steadfast
1920 efforts in myriad capacities advance the missions of every branch
2021 of the armed forces; the experience and expertise they acquire
2122 during their service become immensely valuable assets to their
2223 communities when they return to civilian life, and the Lone Star
2324 State benefits significantly as home to the country's largest
2425 population of women veterans; and
2526 WHEREAS, The Veteran Women's Enterprise Center works to
2627 foster the professional development of these skilled and dynamic
2728 Texans, and accordingly, the center will be celebrating Women
2829 Veterans Day with its second annual Women Veteran's Pitch
2930 Competition, when a panel of judges will evaluate pitch proposals
3031 from women veterans for exciting new businesses; and
3132 WHEREAS, The brave women who have answered our nation's call
3233 to duty are a source of tremendous pride to all Texans, and it is
3334 truly a pleasure to join in honoring their courage, patriotism, and
3435 commitment; now, therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3637 Legislature hereby commemorate Women Veterans Day 2021 and extend
3738 to the Veteran Women's Enterprise Center sincere best wishes for
3839 continued success in its important endeavors; and, be it further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for the Veteran Women's Enterprise Center as an expression
4142 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
