| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bubba Fife, a retired coach and assistant athletic |

| 7 | 8 | | with the Be Great Award by the GoBeGreat Foundation on April 15, |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Be Great Award celebrates individuals who have |

| 10 | 11 | | overcome adversity and who have shared their talents and gifts to |

| 11 | 12 | | make a difference in the lives of others; those associated with the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | nonprofit GoBeGreat Foundation group have contributed their time |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and resources to a variety of charitable causes all over the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | country; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Bubba Fife first began coaching for the Irving |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Independent School District in 1964; he was hired as the head |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | football coach and athletic coordinator for James E. Taylor High |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | School in 1987, marking the start of his long and highly successful |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | affiliation with Katy ISD; he remained there for 12 years, before |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | taking on a new position as the assistant director of athletics for |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Katy High School; his retirement in 2009 capped an impressive |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | career that spanned 45 years, including 35 years as a coach; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Coach Fife was inducted into the Texas High School |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Athletic Directors Association Hall of Honor in 2009; he was also |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | recognized with the Distinguished Service Award from the Greater |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Houston Football Association that same year, and in 2020 he earned a |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | place in the Katy ISD Athletic Hall of Honor; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Through his outstanding commitment to his |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | profession, Bubba Fife has had a positive influence on countless |

| 30 | 31 | | young athletes, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his receipt |

| 31 | 32 | | of this well-deserved accolade; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bubba Fife on his receipt of the Be |

| 34 | 35 | | Great Award by the GoBeGreat Foundation and extend to him sincere |
