45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Three Marlene Angelica Rivera
67 retired from the U.S. Army on October 11, 2020, drawing to a close
78 an outstanding military career that spanned more than three
89 decades; and
910 WHEREAS, The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Teodoro Mendoza and a
1011 native of Eagle Pass, Marlene Rivera enlisted on December 30, 1986,
1112 and she served most of her exemplary 33-year tenure in the army as a
1213 legal administrator with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's
1314 Corps; she also served two deployments overseas, including one to
1415 Bosnia and Herzegovina in support of Operation Joint Endeavor and
1516 the other to Balad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II;
1617 and
1718 WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Rivera's final assignments
1819 included a nominative position at the U.S. Army Reserve Legal
1920 Command, serving as executive officer of Headquarters and
2021 Headquarters Company in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and she completed
2122 her career in the army with the JAG 22nd Legal Operations Detachment
2223 at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston; her awards and
2324 decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal and the
2425 Parachutist Badge; and
2526 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Chief Warrant Officer Rivera
2627 benefits from the love and support of her two sons, Ryan and
2728 Brandon; and
2829 WHEREAS, Marlene Rivera's dedication, professionalism, and
2930 commitment to excellence have earned her the respect and admiration
3031 of all who know her, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a
3132 career well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her
3233 life; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Warrant Officer Three
3536 Marlene Angelica Rivera on her retirement from the U.S. Army and
3637 extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for Chief Warrant Officer Rivera as an expression of high
3940 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
