| 7 | 8 | | Granbury, who died on August 6, 2020, at the age of 68; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of San Angelo, the former Teresa Ann |

| 9 | 10 | | Schumann was born on October 25, 1951, to Paul and Joyce Schumann; |

| 10 | 11 | | after earning her bachelor's degree in education, she taught at |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Emma Roberson Elementary School and eventually retired after a |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | distinguished 35-year career as an educator in Granbury; she was |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | known as a dedicated teacher who genuinely cared about both her |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | students and her colleagues, all of whom held her in the highest |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | regard; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Thomas's innate kindness was further reflected |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | in her deep and unwavering devotion to her children and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | grandchildren; warm and nurturing, she always assured that her |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | loved ones were well cared for, and she delighted in cooking, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | baking, and gardening; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Thomas was one of thousands of parents of adult |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | children with mental illness in the state of Texas, and she was |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | committed to her role as a caregiver up until the last moments of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | her life; the circumstances of her passing underscore the need to |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | provide greater support for families impacted by mental illness and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | to ensure that safe, stable, and affordable housing is available |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | for persons living with mental health conditions; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Although Teresa Ann Thomas is deeply missed, she |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | will forever be remembered with admiration and affection by her |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | treasured family and by the countless other individuals whose lives |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | she touched; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Teresa Ann Thomas |
