| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Benjamin Reid Jowers has ably served his fellow |

| 7 | 8 | | Security and Public Safety Committee during the 87th Legislative |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Reid Jowers has provided vital assistance to the |

| 10 | 11 | | committee's chair, State Representative James White, and its other |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | members as they have dealt with issues related to law enforcement, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | crime prevention, security services, and homeland security; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Hailing from Beaumont, Mr. Jowers earned a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | bachelor's degree in journalism from The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Austin as well as a certificate in security studies from the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Clements Center for National Security; he is currently pursuing a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | master's degree in global policy studies at UT's Lyndon B. Johnson |

| 18 | 19 | | School of Public Affairs; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jowers has completed internships with the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training, the Jefferson |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | County Sheriff's Office, and the Austin Chronicle, and he has |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | served as a reporter with Reporting Texas and as a clerk with the |

| 23 | 24 | | Bernsen Law Firm; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through his skill, professionalism, and commitment |

| 25 | 26 | | to excellence, Reid Jowers has made significant contributions to |

| 26 | 27 | | the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, and he is indeed |

| 27 | 28 | | deserving of recognition for his outstanding record of achievement; |
