| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Every year, National Hospital Week is recognized to |

| 11 | 12 | | express gratitude toward the dedicated and highly skilled |

| 12 | 13 | | physicians, nurses, administrators, and other personnel who staff |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the hospitals across our nation and state; the observance holds |

| 14 | 15 | | special significance in 2021, as health care workers have |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | heroically stood on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic for |

| 16 | 17 | | more than a year; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Texas Medical Center is home to some of the most |

| 18 | 19 | | brilliant experts in their fields of medicine; TMC spans around 50 |

| 19 | 20 | | million square feet and employs more than 100,000 people, while |

| 20 | 21 | | receiving approximately 10 million patient visits each year; the |

| 21 | 22 | | complex features both the world's largest children's hospital and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | largest cancer hospital, and it offers outstanding labor and |

| 23 | 24 | | delivery services, assisting in approximately 26,000 births |

| 24 | 25 | | annually; over 180,000 surgeries are also performed at TMC |

| 25 | 26 | | hospitals every year, including more than 13,000 heart surgeries; |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Through the hard work and considerable expertise of |

| 28 | 29 | | its employees, Texas Medical Center continues to build upon its |

| 29 | 30 | | international reputation for excellence, and the people of Houston |

| 30 | 31 | | are fortunate to have access to such state-of-the-art care at a |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the hospitals within |
