| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The organization provides compassionate support in |

| 10 | 11 | | the form of food, utility, rent, and mortgage assistance, as well as |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | by offering education, training, and employment programs to job |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | seekers; demand for these resources has been especially high due to |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Sharing Life has adapted to |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the unique challenges of this public health crisis by introducing |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | grocery delivery to its array of services, helping to fulfill a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | critical need for families that have been forced to quarantine |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | because of exposure to the virus; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Sharing Life's UNgala is an online event that is |

| 19 | 20 | | being held in place of the organization's gala, its largest annual |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | fundraiser; last year's generous donors helped the group to |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | distribute more than nine million meals to hungry residents and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | cover the cost of over $1.5 million in utility bills, rent payments, |

| 23 | 24 | | and mortgages; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of its existence, Sharing Life has |

| 25 | 26 | | had an immeasurable impact in the lives of many Texans, and the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | funds raised through its UNgala will go a long way toward advancing |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | the organization's altruistic mission; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby honor Sharing Life on the occasion of its 2021 |

| 30 | 31 | | UNgala and extend to all those affiliated with the group sincere |

| 31 | 32 | | best wishes for a successful event; and, be it further |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
