44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Texas communities are made richer and stronger by
66 those individuals who give generously of their time and talents in
77 behalf of others, and the work carried out by well-known football
88 players Aaron Jones and Alvin Jones in the El Paso area exemplifies
99 civic engagement at its finest; and
1010 WHEREAS, Twin brothers Aaron and Alvin Jones moved to El Paso
1111 at age 12 when their parents relocated to the city while serving in
1212 the U.S. Army; standout athletes at Burges High School, the
1313 brothers enjoyed successful college football careers at The
1414 University of Texas at El Paso and then joined the elite ranks of
1515 the National Football League; Alvin's career has included a season
1616 with the Baltimore Ravens organization while Aaron has become a top
1717 NFL running back with the Green Bay Packers; and
1818 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to helping others, the brothers
1919 have established A&A All The Way Foundation, a nonprofit
2020 organization that's active in El Paso and Wisconsin; providing
2121 food, clothing, and other items to those in need, the foundation
2222 seeks to positively impact the lives of young people and to
2323 emphasize the importance of education, unity, and diversity; in
2424 2020, A&A All The Way partnered with Albertsons and Festival Foods
2525 to give away turkeys at Thanksgiving, and the group presented bikes
2626 to students at Hawkins Elementary School in El Paso during the
2727 holiday season; and
2828 WHEREAS, The Jones brothers have also mentored area students
2929 by conducting a Youth Skills Camp at their high school alma mater;
3030 in addition, they have made special appearances at Fort Bliss to
3131 honor the troops stationed there and have visited the Las Palmas
3232 Medical Center cancer facility to show support for young patients;
3333 moreover, the two honored the memory of their recently deceased
3434 father, Alvin Jones Sr., and his commitment to service by
3535 surprising students from two local elementary schools with new
3636 tennis shoes; and
3737 WHEREAS, Aaron and Alvin Jones have demonstrated a lasting
3838 commitment to making El Paso a better place for all, and in so
3939 doing, they have set an inspiring example of compassion and
4040 generosity; now, therefore, be it
4141 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
4242 Legislature hereby honor Aaron Jones and Alvin Jones for their
4343 contributions to the El Paso community and extend to them sincere
4444 best wishes for success in their charitable initiatives; and, be it
4545 further
4646 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4747 prepared for Aaron and Alvin Jones as an expression of high regard
4848 by the Texas House of Representatives.
