45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The McKinney High School girls' lacrosse team
67 reached the pinnacle of success by winning the 2021 Texas Girls High
78 School Lacrosse League Division 2 state championship on May 9 at
89 Scotty Caven Field in Houston; and
910 WHEREAS, Earning their second championship since 2015, the
1011 Lions proved unstoppable in their playoff contests; they began with
1112 dominant victories over Austin and Anderson High Schools to advance
1213 to the Division 2 title game; and
1314 WHEREAS, Matching up against Prosper High School in the
1415 finale, McKinney jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first half and
1516 then put the game away after intermission, outscoring Prosper 8-1
1617 to clinch an 18-9 win and claim the state crown; and
1718 WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Pam Henry, the Lions received
1819 valuable contributions from each member of the roster over the
1920 course of the 2021 campaign; and
2021 WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the culmination of
2122 countless hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment to
2223 excellence, and the talented student-athletes of the McKinney Lions
2324 lacrosse team may take justifiable pride in their exceptional
2425 accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate the McKinney High School girls'
2728 lacrosse team on winning the 2021 TGHSLL Division 2 state
2829 championship and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff
2930 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for the Lions as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3233 House of Representatives.
