45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Latwanna Clark and her daughter, Kay Clark, have
67 added to the richness and vitality of the Mesquite community by
78 opening their bakery, Kay's Cookiez; and
89 WHEREAS, Latwanna Clark, who had previously worked as a
910 hairdresser and family therapist, decided to transition to a job
1011 that would allow her to spend more time with her young daughter;
1112 inspired by Kay's fondness for cookies, the mother-daughter duo
1213 began selling cookies and other treats in Atlanta, where they lived
1314 at the time, and then at the Town East Mall in Mesquite; the success
1415 of their kiosk led them to open a brick-and-mortar shop in March
1516 2021; and
1617 WHEREAS, Locally owned businesses make a welcome
1718 contribution to the prosperity and distinct character of their
1819 communities, and it is fitting that this notable enterprise be
1920 recognized for the valued service it provides to area residents;
2021 now, therefore, be it
2122 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2223 Legislature hereby congratulate Latwanna and Kay Clark on the
2324 opening of the Kay's Cookiez brick-and-mortar shop in Mesquite and
2425 extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
2526 further
2627 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2728 prepared for the Clark family as an expression of high regard by the
2829 Texas House of Representatives.
