| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Roosevelt Nivens II has been named |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, An educator with 24 years of experience, Dr. Nivens |

| 9 | 10 | | began his career as a teacher in the Dallas Independent School |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | District, and he later joined Lancaster ISD, where he served as |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | achievement and organizational management; in 2015, he became |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | superintendent of Community ISD, and under his leadership, the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | district earned an A rating from the Texas Education Agency and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | increased the number of students earning college credits through |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Advanced Placement Exams and dual credit classes, with 10 percent |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | of students earning an associate's degree upon graduation; he also |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | expanded the district's career and technical education programs and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | professional certifications; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Nivens holds a bachelor of science degree from |

| 21 | 22 | | Liberty University and master's and doctoral degrees in education |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | from Texas A&M University-Commerce; in all his endeavors, he enjoys |

| 23 | 24 | | the love and support of his wife, Karla; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career as an educator, Roosevelt |

| 25 | 26 | | Nivens has upheld the highest standards of his profession, and he is |

| 26 | 27 | | sure to bring to his new position equal commitment and energy; now, |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
