5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |

6 | 7 | | with the passing of Avery Alderman Rhodes of Nacogdoches on May 11, |

7 | 8 | | 2021, at the age of 52; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of B. W. Sanderson and Wayne Alderman, |
---|
9 | 10 | | the former Avery Alderman was born on December 5, 1968; she grew up |
---|
10 | 11 | | in Jasper and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University; in |
---|
11 | 12 | | 1993, she married Charles "Chuck" Rhodes Jr., and they became the |
---|
12 | 13 | | parents of a daughter, Madison; the couple were eventually blessed |
---|
13 | 14 | | with two grandchildren, Ashton and Annsley; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Rhodes was devoted to her family, including her |
---|
15 | 16 | | siblings, Neil and Ashley, her stepsister, Toni, her stepdaughter, |
---|
16 | 17 | | Brook, her stepfather, Wayne Sanderson, and her stepmother, Becky |
---|
17 | 18 | | Alderman; she loved having coffee with relatives and friends while |
---|
18 | 19 | | reminiscing over the myriad of photos on her phone; sustained by a |
---|
19 | 20 | | strong faith, she sent up prayers and offered support for anyone in |
---|
20 | 21 | | need, and she could always provide the perfect scripture to comfort |
---|
21 | 22 | | and inspire; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, For 22 years, Ms. Rhodes was employed as a |
---|
23 | 24 | | pharmaceutical representative, most recently as senior executive |
---|
24 | 25 | | representative for AstraZeneca; the company recognized her with the |
---|
25 | 26 | | Circle of Excellence, its most prestigious award; over the course |
---|
26 | 27 | | of her career, she was a mentor to numerous colleagues; |
---|
27 | 28 | | additionally, she served on the Texas Diabetes Council by |
---|
28 | 29 | | gubernatorial appointment; as a former resident of Angelina County, |
---|
29 | 30 | | she was very involved with the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of |
---|
30 | 31 | | Commerce, and she was a graduate of Leadership Lufkin; and |
---|
31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, While her loss is difficult to bear, Avery Rhodes |
---|
32 | 33 | | leaves behind many friends and loved ones whose lives are far richer |
---|
33 | 34 | | for having known her, and she will forever hold a treasured place in |
---|
34 | 35 | | their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Avery Alderman Rhodes |

37 | 38 | | and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be |
