45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Courtney McGuire of Stephenville has attained the
67 Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly merits
78 recognition; and
89 WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. McGuire successfully
910 met a series of requirements emphasizing community service,
1011 personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership
1112 skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Girl
1213 Scout Gold Award project entitled Project Melting Pot, in which she
1314 captured and edited a 21-minute documentary focused on shifting the
1415 narrative surrounding immigration in the United States using
1516 personal accounts of four immigrants living in Erath County; and
1617 WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging
1718 young women to explore career opportunities and to become more
1819 socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its
1920 participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged
2021 citizens and leaders; and
2122 WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. McGuire has
2223 demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest
2324 ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on
2425 a job well done; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate Courtney McGuire on her receipt of
2728 the Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for
2829 continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for Ms. McGuire as an expression of high regard by the
3132 Texas House of Representatives.
