5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Courtney McGuire of Stephenville has attained the |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. McGuire successfully |

9 | 10 | | met a series of requirements emphasizing community service, |

10 | 11 | | personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership |

11 | 12 | | skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Girl |

12 | 13 | | Scout Gold Award project entitled Project Melting Pot, in which she |
---|
13 | 14 | | captured and edited a 21-minute documentary focused on shifting the |
---|
14 | 15 | | narrative surrounding immigration in the United States using |
---|
15 | 16 | | personal accounts of four immigrants living in Erath County; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging |
---|
17 | 18 | | young women to explore career opportunities and to become more |

18 | 19 | | socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its |

19 | 20 | | participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged |
---|
20 | 21 | | citizens and leaders; and |

21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. McGuire has |

22 | 23 | | demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest |

23 | 24 | | ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on |

24 | 25 | | a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
