5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Beverly Watts Davis, the chief operating officer of |

6 | 7 | | the WestCare Foundation, has greatly benefited the San Antonio |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since beginning operations in Texas in 2016, the |

10 | 11 | | WestCare Foundation has worked to address urgent community issues |

11 | 12 | | with an emphasis on improving behavioral health and reducing |
---|
12 | 13 | | trauma; the foundation has sponsored programs focused on enhancing |
---|
13 | 14 | | community-police relations, promoting the development of healthy |
---|
14 | 15 | | coping skills in at-risk youth, assisting victims of crime, and |
---|
15 | 16 | | providing support to grandparents who are raising their |
---|
16 | 17 | | grandchildren; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In addition to her important work with WestCare, |

18 | 19 | | Ms. Watts Davis currently serves as the program coordinator for the |
---|
19 | 20 | | Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration ReCAST |
---|
20 | 21 | | grant for Bexar County, which helps residents access violence |
---|
21 | 22 | | prevention programs and behavioral health services; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Watts Davis has generously given back to her |
---|
23 | 24 | | community in various other leadership positions, including mayoral |
---|
24 | 25 | | appointments to the Police and Community Relations Council and the |
---|
25 | 26 | | Eastpoint Sustainability Committee; she also chairs the board of |
---|
26 | 27 | | directors of Ella Austin Community Center, and she serves on the |
---|
27 | 28 | | City Bond Committee and the United Way Women's Leadership Council; |

29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Through her exemplary efforts, Beverly Watts Davis |

30 | 31 | | has set an inspiring example of civic engagement, and she has earned |

31 | 32 | | the well-deserved admiration and appreciation of her fellow |

32 | 33 | | citizens; now, therefore, be it |

33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby commend Beverly Watts Davis for her service to |
