45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Beverly Watts Davis, the chief operating officer of
67 the WestCare Foundation, has greatly benefited the San Antonio
78 community through the time and energy she has dedicated to many
89 worthy causes; and
910 WHEREAS, Since beginning operations in Texas in 2016, the
1011 WestCare Foundation has worked to address urgent community issues
1112 with an emphasis on improving behavioral health and reducing
1213 trauma; the foundation has sponsored programs focused on enhancing
1314 community-police relations, promoting the development of healthy
1415 coping skills in at-risk youth, assisting victims of crime, and
1516 providing support to grandparents who are raising their
1617 grandchildren; and
1718 WHEREAS, In addition to her important work with WestCare,
1819 Ms. Watts Davis currently serves as the program coordinator for the
1920 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration ReCAST
2021 grant for Bexar County, which helps residents access violence
2122 prevention programs and behavioral health services; and
2223 WHEREAS, Ms. Watts Davis has generously given back to her
2324 community in various other leadership positions, including mayoral
2425 appointments to the Police and Community Relations Council and the
2526 Eastpoint Sustainability Committee; she also chairs the board of
2627 directors of Ella Austin Community Center, and she serves on the
2728 City Bond Committee and the United Way Women's Leadership Council;
2829 and
2930 WHEREAS, Through her exemplary efforts, Beverly Watts Davis
3031 has set an inspiring example of civic engagement, and she has earned
3132 the well-deserved admiration and appreciation of her fellow
3233 citizens; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby commend Beverly Watts Davis for her service to
3536 the WestCare Foundation and the wider San Antonio community and
3637 extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for Ms. Watts Davis as an expression of high regard by the
3940 Texas House of Representatives.
