5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The COVID-19 global pandemic has required health |

7 | 8 | | historic challenges, and the physicians, nurses, allied health care |

8 | 9 | | staff, support staff, and administration of Northwest Texas |
---|
9 | 10 | | Healthcare System have, together as a professional health care |

10 | 11 | | team, heroically stood on the front lines in the war against this |
---|
11 | 12 | | contagious and deadly virus, and they have resolutely persevered in |
---|
12 | 13 | | the face of tremendous adversity wrought by the unseen enemy; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, At the outset of the pandemic, hospitals throughout |
---|
14 | 15 | | Texas, including Northwest Texas Healthcare System, intently |
---|
15 | 16 | | focused on many matters, including preparedness measures, |
---|
16 | 17 | | infection control protocols and screenings, personal protective |
---|
17 | 18 | | equipment, and the coordination of response efforts with nearby |
---|
18 | 19 | | hospitals; and |
---|
19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The unwavering collective resolve and fortitude |

20 | 21 | | demonstrated by the staff of Northwest Texas Healthcare System is |

21 | 22 | | the latest chapter in its history of caring for its patients and the |

22 | 23 | | community; established in 1924, Northwest Texas Healthcare System |

23 | 24 | | is an acute care facility and medical center nationally known for |
---|
24 | 25 | | its heart, emergency, stroke, and pediatric services; an advanced |
---|
25 | 26 | | level III trauma facility, the emergency department has expanded to |
---|
26 | 27 | | include freestanding locations; and |
---|
27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Although COVID-19 put a tremendous strain on |

28 | 29 | | hospitals across the country, the professional team of Northwest |
---|
29 | 30 | | Texas Healthcare System worked together to provide medical care to |
---|
30 | 31 | | patients and to the community-at-large under extremely physically |
---|
31 | 32 | | and mentally exhausting circumstances; and |
---|
32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, In resolutely facing, adapting to, and overcoming |
---|
33 | 34 | | the ever-evolving and unprecedented health care circumstances |
---|
34 | 35 | | thrust upon them, all associated with the hospital are indeed |
---|
35 | 36 | | deserving of recognition for their tireless heroic work on the |
---|
36 | 37 | | front lines in the war against COVID-19; now, therefore, be it |
---|
37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby commend the physicians, nurses, and all |
---|
39 | 40 | | frontline personnel as well as the support staff and administration |
---|
40 | 41 | | of Northwest Texas Healthcare System for their outstanding, noble, |
---|
41 | 42 | | and heroic service to the people of Amarillo, the greater Texas |
---|
42 | 43 | | Panhandle, and the Tri-State region of Texas, Oklahoma, and New |
---|
43 | 44 | | Mexico; and, be it further |

44 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

45 | 46 | | prepared for the staff of Northwest Texas Healthcare System as an |

46 | 47 | | expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
