| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The City of Mesquite hosted a ribbon-cutting |

| 6 | 7 | | ceremony on May 22, 2021, to commemorate the completion of Front |

| 7 | 8 | | Street Station, a new $5.5 million infrastructure improvement |

| 8 | 9 | | project; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Overseen by the city's Downtown Mesquite |

| 10 | 11 | | Development Program, the project features a performance pavilion, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | an area for events and vendor booths, and new parking spaces, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | streetlights, and landscaping; it has also provided underground |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | infrastructure that will support the addition of new restaurants in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the downtown area, and plans are underway for a new development |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | office and visitor center in the area as well; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Front Street Station is the first major improvement |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | project since the Downtown Mesquite Development Program began in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | 2018; to date, the City of Mesquite has won multiple statewide |

| 19 | 20 | | awards for its downtown revitalization efforts, including |

| 20 | 21 | | recognition for the 2019 groundbreaking event for the Front Street |

| 21 | 22 | | Station project; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Initiatives such as Front Street Station reflect the |

| 23 | 24 | | City of Mesquite's commitment to making its downtown an even more |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | popular destination for residents, visitors, and businesses alike, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | and it is a pleasure to join in honoring this significant |

| 26 | 27 | | achievement; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the completion of Front Street |

| 29 | 30 | | Station in downtown Mesquite and recognize all those involved with |

| 30 | 31 | | the Downtown Mesquite Development Program for their contributions |
