| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Miguel Villanueva is retiring as the commissioner |

| 6 | 7 | | for Sutton County Precinct 1 at the end of 2020, drawing to a close a |

| 7 | 8 | | remarkable tenure that has spanned 38 years; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, First elected in 1982, Mike Villanueva successfully |

| 9 | 10 | | ran for commissioner 10 times, including 2 unopposed elections; |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | during his time in office, he was instrumental in paving Bloodworth |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Road and in securing a grant for replacement water and sewage lines, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | and he also headed up a grant application to replace an aging sewage |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | system; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Villanueva has further contributed to his |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | community as chair of the Concho Valley Council of Governments and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | as a member of the Concho Valley Transit District board; moreover, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | he has served as a foster grandparent with the Sonora Independent |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | School District and worked with the Vaquero Heritage Program; a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | longtime parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church, he has twice led |

| 20 | 21 | | the Knights of Columbus as the Grand Knight; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Villanueva has enjoyed the |

| 22 | 23 | | love and support of his wife, Amparo, and he takes great pride in |

| 23 | 24 | | their 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mike Villanueva's hard work, professionalism, and |

| 25 | 26 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of |

| 26 | 27 | | Sutton County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | exceptional record of achievement; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby commend Mike Villanueva for his service on the |

| 30 | 31 | | Sutton County Commissioners Court and extend to him sincere best |
