| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Justin Gonzales of Lake Jackson has ably served his |

| 6 | 7 | | fellow Texans as an intern in the office of State Representative |

| 7 | 8 | | Barbara Gervin-Hawkins during the 87th Legislative Session; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Mr. Gonzales has provided |

| 9 | 10 | | vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of public |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | service, he has learned more about the legislative process and the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; during his |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | internship, he has assisted with legislative research, staffing |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | committees, constituent services, and special projects, and he has |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | conducted administrative and clerical work; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales is currently on the pre-law track at |

| 17 | 18 | | The University of Texas at Austin, where he is pursuing a double |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | major in government and rhetoric and writing; active in his campus |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | community, he has participated in student government as an officer |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | for the Diversity and Inclusion Agency, and he has served as the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | diversity and inclusion chair of the Diversity in Pre-Law |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | organization; among his many accolades, he is a recipient of the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Texas Legislative Black Caucus Scholarship; he hopes to one day |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | work as a lawyer for disenfranchised minority groups within the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | U.S.; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed his |

| 27 | 28 | | duties as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and he is |

| 28 | 29 | | indeed deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now, |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
