| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The seat of Freestone County, Fairfield has long |

| 9 | 10 | | been a center of agricultural commerce; cotton was the predominant |

| 10 | 11 | | crop in the town's early years, and today, the county is known for |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | its cattle ranches and peach production; since the 1960s, the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | region has also been a source of natural gas; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Fairfield benefits from its location at the junction |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | of US Highway 84 and Interstate 45 between Dallas and Houston; |

| 15 | 16 | | centered on a handsome county courthouse that was built in 1919, the |

| 16 | 17 | | charming town square and the city's relaxed, small-town lifestyle |

| 17 | 18 | | delight both residents and visitors alike; moreover, Fairfield Lake |

| 18 | 19 | | has become a popular destination for fishing and camping, drawing |

| 19 | 20 | | 250,000 visitors a year; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce is the voice of |

| 21 | 22 | | the local business community, and it also operates the city's |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | visitor center; by working together with integrity, respect, and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | passion, the men and women of the chamber endeavor to educate, lead, |

| 24 | 25 | | and promote economic development and tourism in the county; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce are |

| 26 | 27 | | committed to making their county a better place in which to live, |

| 27 | 28 | | work, and do business, and they may indeed take great pride in the |

| 28 | 29 | | vital role they play in their community; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
