87R30354 CJM-D By: Guillen H.R. No. 2024 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories of Guadalupe M. Peña of Rio Grande City, who passed away on May 3, 2021, at the age of 83; and WHEREAS, Guadalupe Peña was born on November 2, 1937, in Hebbronville; a graduate of Hebbronville High School, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree in biology from Texas A&I University and a master's degree from Pan American University; and WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Peña served in Libya as a member of the U.S. Air Force; in the course of his career as an educator, he worked for the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District for more than 35 years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Peña belonged to the Texas Retired Teachers Association and the Knights of Columbus; he was also a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Peña enjoyed the love and support of his wife of 52 years, Diana, and he took great pride in his children, Deanna, Guadalupe, and Ernesto; with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include eight grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Benjamin, Julianna, Hunter, Kamryn, Abbylyn, and Jonathan; and WHEREAS, Dedicated to his family, his faith, and his country, Guadalupe Peña earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Guadalupe M. Peña and extend sincere condolences to those he leaves behind; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Guadalupe Peña.
