| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |

| 6 | 7 | | of Guadalupe M. Peña of Rio Grande City, who passed away on May 3, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Guadalupe Peña was born on November 2, 1937, in |

| 9 | 10 | | Hebbronville; a graduate of Hebbronville High School, he went on to |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | earn a bachelor's degree in biology from Texas A&I University and a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | master's degree from Pan American University; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Peña served |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | in Libya as a member of the U.S. Air Force; in the course of his |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | career as an educator, he worked for the Rio Grande City |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Consolidated Independent School District for more than 35 years; |
|---|

|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Peña belonged to the Texas Retired Teachers |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Association and the Knights of Columbus; he was also a parishioner |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | at Immaculate Conception Church; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Peña enjoyed the love and |

| 21 | 22 | | support of his wife of 52 years, Diana, and he took great pride in |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | his children, Deanna, Guadalupe, and Ernesto; with the passing |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include |

| 24 | 25 | | eight grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Benjamin, Julianna, Hunter, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Kamryn, Abbylyn, and Jonathan; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to his family, his faith, and his country, |

| 27 | 28 | | Guadalupe Peña earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who |

| 28 | 29 | | were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Guadalupe M. Peña and |
