| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Martha Elisa Mendez of Dallas |

| 6 | 7 | | on January 23, 2020, at the age of 21, has brought an immeasurable |

| 7 | 8 | | loss to the many people who loved her; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on March 13, 1998, to Dominga and |

| 9 | 10 | | Enrique Mendez, Martha Mendez grew up with the companionship of two |

| 10 | 11 | | brothers, Enrique and Jorge; a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | High School, she was taking classes at Eastfield College at the time |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | of her passing; she had already succeeded in establishing herself |

| 13 | 14 | | as an entrepreneur, serving as the co-owner of M&N Treats; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Mendez was an animal lover who enjoyed baking, |

| 15 | 16 | | painting, and spending time with her friends and family; her |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | passion for travel led her to many destinations, including the |

| 17 | 18 | | states of California, Colorado, and Florida and the cities of New |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | York, Mexico City, Guanajuato, San Luis, and Cabo San Lucas; |

| 19 | 20 | | free-spirited and fun-loving, she was further blessed with a kind |

| 20 | 21 | | heart and an unfailing ability to see the best in everyone; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Martha Mendez was a ray of light in the lives of all |

| 22 | 23 | | those who held her dear, and though her passing has brought immense |

| 23 | 24 | | sorrow, she has left behind a legacy of love that will never be |

| 24 | 25 | | forgotten; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Martha Elisa Mendez |
