45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Martha Elisa Mendez of Dallas
67 on January 23, 2020, at the age of 21, has brought an immeasurable
78 loss to the many people who loved her; and
89 WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on March 13, 1998, to Dominga and
910 Enrique Mendez, Martha Mendez grew up with the companionship of two
1011 brothers, Enrique and Jorge; a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson
1112 High School, she was taking classes at Eastfield College at the time
1213 of her passing; she had already succeeded in establishing herself
1314 as an entrepreneur, serving as the co-owner of M&N Treats; and
1415 WHEREAS, Ms. Mendez was an animal lover who enjoyed baking,
1516 painting, and spending time with her friends and family; her
1617 passion for travel led her to many destinations, including the
1718 states of California, Colorado, and Florida and the cities of New
1819 York, Mexico City, Guanajuato, San Luis, and Cabo San Lucas;
1920 free-spirited and fun-loving, she was further blessed with a kind
2021 heart and an unfailing ability to see the best in everyone; and
2122 WHEREAS, Martha Mendez was a ray of light in the lives of all
2223 those who held her dear, and though her passing has brought immense
2324 sorrow, she has left behind a legacy of love that will never be
2425 forgotten; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Martha Elisa Mendez
2728 and extend profound condolences to the members of her family: to her
2829 parents, Dominga and Enrique Mendez; to her brothers, Enrique and
2930 Jorge Mendez; to her grandparents, Delfina and Camerino Lira and
3031 Laurencia Loera de Mendez; to her aunts, uncles, and cousins; and to
3132 her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
3233 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3334 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
3435 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Martha
3536 Mendez.
