| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |

| 6 | 7 | | memories of Jack Erwin Rutherford of Jourdanton, who died on |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Ford and Lois Rutherford, Jack Rutherford |

| 9 | 10 | | was born in Jourdanton on August 20, 1939, and he grew up in |

| 10 | 11 | | Christine with seven siblings, James, Lake, Ollie, Mary, Nettie, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Frankie, and Kathy; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Rutherford |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1967; in civilian life, he |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | worked as a rancher and cattle hauler, and he was also employed by |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the Atascosa Livestock Exchange; he was named Cowboy of the Year in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | 1980, and in 2008 he was inducted into the South Texas Cowboy Hall |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | of Fame; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Rutherford shared a loving union with his wife, |

| 19 | 20 | | Elaine, and he was the proud father of three children, Robert, Alan, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and Gay; later in life he was blessed with eight grandchildren, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Vanessa, Brooke, Christi, Kaycee, Katlyn, Tyler, Guy, and Bailey, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | and five great-grandchildren, Madison, Jayden, Taylor, Kaydenee, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | and Wiley; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Jack Rutherford lived a life that was rich in family |

| 25 | 26 | | and friends, and those who were privileged to share in his love and |

| 26 | 27 | | affection will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jack Erwin |
