| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and |

| 6 | 7 | | generosity of Kathryn Thompson of Miami, Texas, who passed away on |

| 7 | 8 | | February 5, 2021, at the age of 74; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Kathryn Adelia LaMaster and Samuel |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Jacob Judice, Kay Thompson was born on August 29, 1946, in Liberty, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | and she grew up with the companionship of a brother, Sammy; after |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | graduating from Perryton High School, she attended the University |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | of Hawaii and Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky; she |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | subsequently transferred to West Texas State University, where she |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | earned a degree in education, and in 1968, she moved to Miami to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | begin her teaching career; she taught various grades at Miami |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Elementary School for 30 years, until her retirement in 2003; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Ms. Thompson was a |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | member of the Miami Independent School District board of trustees, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | and she also volunteered at the Tralee Crisis Center in Pampa; a |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of First Christian |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Church in Miami, where she served on the board of directors; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Thompson enjoyed the love |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | and support of her husband, Alan "Butch" Thompson, with whom she |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | shared a rewarding marriage that spanned five decades; she was the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | proud mother of two children, Tandy and Brock, and with the passing |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | years, she experienced the joy of welcoming into her family five |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | grandchildren, Ty, Trent, Kathryn, Olivia, and Max; in her leisure |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | hours, she delighted in hosting gatherings and playing bridge, but |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | above all else, she treasured time spent with her loved ones; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Kay Thompson led a caring and purposeful life, and |

| 31 | 32 | | her loss is keenly felt by all who were touched by her affection and |

| 32 | 33 | | friendship; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kathryn Thompson |
