45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
67 generosity of Kathryn Thompson of Miami, Texas, who passed away on
78 February 5, 2021, at the age of 74; and
89 WHEREAS, The daughter of Kathryn Adelia LaMaster and Samuel
910 Jacob Judice, Kay Thompson was born on August 29, 1946, in Liberty,
1011 and she grew up with the companionship of a brother, Sammy; after
1112 graduating from Perryton High School, she attended the University
1213 of Hawaii and Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky; she
1314 subsequently transferred to West Texas State University, where she
1415 earned a degree in education, and in 1968, she moved to Miami to
1516 begin her teaching career; she taught various grades at Miami
1617 Elementary School for 30 years, until her retirement in 2003; and
1718 WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Ms. Thompson was a
1819 member of the Miami Independent School District board of trustees,
1920 and she also volunteered at the Tralee Crisis Center in Pampa; a
2021 woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of First Christian
2122 Church in Miami, where she served on the board of directors; and
2223 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Thompson enjoyed the love
2324 and support of her husband, Alan "Butch" Thompson, with whom she
2425 shared a rewarding marriage that spanned five decades; she was the
2526 proud mother of two children, Tandy and Brock, and with the passing
2627 years, she experienced the joy of welcoming into her family five
2728 grandchildren, Ty, Trent, Kathryn, Olivia, and Max; in her leisure
2829 hours, she delighted in hosting gatherings and playing bridge, but
2930 above all else, she treasured time spent with her loved ones; and
3031 WHEREAS, Kay Thompson led a caring and purposeful life, and
3132 her loss is keenly felt by all who were touched by her affection and
3233 friendship; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kathryn Thompson
3536 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
3637 husband, Butch Thompson; to her children, Tandy Diamond and her
3738 husband, Jason, and Brock Thompson and his wife, Berkley; to her
3839 grandchildren, Ty Thompson, Trent Thompson, Kathryn "Kate"
3940 Diamond, Olivia Diamond, and Max Diamond; to her brother, Sammy
4041 Judice, and his wife, Sandy; and to her other relatives and friends;
4142 and, be it further
4243 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4344 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4445 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kay
4546 Thompson.
