45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the
67 passing of Dillard H. Wied of Hebbronville on October 24, 2019, at
78 the age of 92; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Arthur and Annie Wied, Dillard Wied was
910 born in Crestonio on December 24, 1926, and grew up on the family
1011 farm with four siblings, Franklin, Bonnie, Herbert, and Perry; he
1112 continued to farm and ranch after graduating from high school and
1213 served his country in the U.S. Army; and
1314 WHEREAS, Following his time in the military, Mr. Wied
1415 partnered with his brother Perry in farming and ranching, and he
1516 also owned a welding shop; he later worked on a logging truck for
1617 Schlumberger before starting a water well drilling and service
1718 company; in 1971, he opened Wied Hardware, which he ran until his
1819 retirement, and afterward, he continued to ranch for a number of
1920 years; and
2021 WHEREAS, For almost four decades, Mr. Wied served as a
2122 director of First National Bank; he was also active in his community
2223 as a member of Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Jim Wells
2324 County Farm Bureau; and
2425 WHEREAS, Mr. Wied shared a rewarding marriage with his wife,
2526 Louise, before her passing in 2004; he was the proud father of three
2627 children, Mark, Annette, and Franklin, and through the years, he
2728 was further blessed with seven grandchildren, Ann, Justin, Fallon,
2829 Cameron, Christopher, Meghan, and Kasey, as well as two
2930 great-grandchildren, Kylie and Kelsea; and
3031 WHEREAS, Although Dillard Wied is greatly missed, he has left
3132 his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will forever
3233 cherish; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dillard H. Wied and
3536 extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it
3637 further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3940 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dillard
4041 Wied.
