No. 2064 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories of Abraham Ruiz of Raymondville, who passed away on May 24, 2020, at the age of 78; and WHEREAS, The son of Jose and Felipa Ruiz, Abraham Ruiz was born on October 26, 1941, in Lyford and grew up with eight siblings; and WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to arms, Mr. Ruiz became a member of the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam; his military awards included the Purple Heart and the Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars; he went on to work for the City of Raymondville for more than two decades before retiring; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ruiz enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Eulalia, and he took great pride in his children, Elizabeth, Eulalia, Perla, Esmeralda, and Adrianna; with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his country, and his community, Abraham Ruiz lived a rich and purposeful life, and he leaves behind a record of service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Abraham Ruiz and extend sincere condolences to his family: to his wife, Eulalia Ruiz; to his daughters, Elizabeth Ruiz and her husband, Raul Mata, Eulalia Gonzales and her husband, Benjamin, Perla Rodriguez and her husband, Alfredo, Esmeralda Jimenez and her husband, Antonio, and Adrianna Lopez and her husband, Gregorio; to his brother, Roberto Ruiz; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Abraham Ruiz.
