45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
67 of Abraham Ruiz of Raymondville, who passed away on May 24, 2020, at
78 the age of 78; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Jose and Felipa Ruiz, Abraham Ruiz was
910 born on October 26, 1941, in Lyford and grew up with eight siblings;
1011 and
1112 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to arms, Mr. Ruiz became
1213 a member of the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam;
1314 his military awards included the Purple Heart and the Vietnam
1415 Service Medal with four bronze stars; he went on to work for the
1516 City of Raymondville for more than two decades before retiring; and
1617 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ruiz enjoyed the love and
1718 support of his wife, Eulalia, and he took great pride in his
1819 children, Elizabeth, Eulalia, Perla, Esmeralda, and Adrianna; with
1920 the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to
2021 include 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and
2122 WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his country, and his
2223 community, Abraham Ruiz lived a rich and purposeful life, and he
2324 leaves behind a record of service that his loved ones can remember
2425 with pride; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Abraham Ruiz and
2728 extend sincere condolences to his family: to his wife, Eulalia
2829 Ruiz; to his daughters, Elizabeth Ruiz and her husband, Raul Mata,
2930 Eulalia Gonzales and her husband, Benjamin, Perla Rodriguez and her
3031 husband, Alfredo, Esmeralda Jimenez and her husband, Antonio, and
3132 Adrianna Lopez and her husband, Gregorio; to his brother, Roberto
3233 Ruiz; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his
3334 other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
3435 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3536 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3637 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Abraham
3738 Ruiz.
