| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |

| 6 | 7 | | of Romeo Garcia of Rio Grande City, who passed away on July 7, 2020, |

| 7 | 8 | | at the age of 70; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Reynaldo and Manuela Garcia, Romeo Garcia |

| 9 | 10 | | was born on October 24, 1949, in Rio Grande City and grew up with six |

| 10 | 11 | | siblings, Reynaldo, Olga, Irma, Olgita, Alba, and Lupita; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Garcia |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 21 years; he also enjoyed a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | career with Zarsky Lumber that started out as an after-school job |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and went on to span more than four decades before he ultimately |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | retired as manager; a valued member of his community, he was active |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | in the Rotary Club and the Knights of Columbus; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Garcia drew strength |

| 18 | 19 | | from the rewarding marriage he shared with his wife, Nela, and he |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | took great pride in his children, Romeo, Lisa, Lorena, and Rebecca; |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | grow to include several grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Romeo Garcia lived a rich and purposeful life, and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | he will forever remain a source of inspiration to those he leaves |

| 24 | 25 | | behind; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Romeo Garcia and |
