| 6 | 7 | | of Jose Jesus Ruiz, who passed away on July 7, 2020, at the age of |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Hilario and Viviana Garza Ruiz, "Chuy" |

| 9 | 10 | | Ruiz was born on March 5, 1927 in Jim Hogg County and grew up with |

| 10 | 11 | | nine siblings, Salvador, Julian, Esperanza, Hilario, Gregorio, |

| 11 | 12 | | Guadalupe, Juan, Viviana, and Refugia; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Ruiz served |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | in the armed forces during World War II; at the time of his passing, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | he was an active member of the American Legion and the oldest |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | veteran in Hebbronville; over the course his career as a mechanic, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | he owned a wrecker company and worked with the ambulance service; |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ruiz enjoyed the love and |

| 19 | 20 | | support of his wife, Odilia, and he took great pride in his |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | children, Rodemiro, Hilda, Rene, Roel, Ernesto, and Ricardo; with |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | include 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | great-great-grandchildren; sustained by a deep faith, Mr. Ruiz was |

| 24 | 25 | | a devoted member of the Catholic Church and was well known for his |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | willingness to help those in need; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A proud veteran and a caring husband, father, and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | grandfather, Chuy Ruiz lived a full and generous life surrounded by |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | those he loved, and they will forever hold him close in their |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jose Jesus Ruiz and |
