| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Judy Swafford, a valued member of the Grand Prairie |

| 6 | 7 | | community and a friend to many, passed away on October 29, 2020, at |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Leroy and Marie Gipson, the former |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Judy Gipson was born in Fort Worth on November 29, 1941, and she |

| 10 | 11 | | grew up with the companionship of two siblings, June and Robert |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Leroy; after graduating from Poly High School, she went on to marry |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Jim Swafford in 1961, and the couple made their home in Grand |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Prairie; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Swafford and her husband shared a rewarding |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | union that spanned nearly six decades, and they became the proud |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | parents of two children, Robert and Renea; with the passing years, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | they were further blessed with two grandchildren, Jane Anne and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Johnson Nolen, and two great-grandchildren, Graham and Colby; |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | throughout her marriage, Mrs. Swafford dedicated herself to her |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | home and her family, and she was ever supportive of her husband's |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | professional and civic endeavors; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, An avid gardener, Mrs. Swafford gave generously of |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | her time and expertise as a volunteer with the Dallas Arboretum for |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | many years, and she delighted in spending time in her own English |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | garden at home; she also counted golf among her favorite |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | activities, and she enjoyed sharing her passion for the sport with |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | her husband and other family members throughout her life; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Judy Swafford possessed a generosity of spirit that |

| 29 | 30 | | expressed itself in myriad ways, and she enriched the lives of |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | countless people with her warmth and kindness; now, therefore, be |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Judy Swafford and |
