| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jennifer Eckermann has been named the 2020 Woman of |

| 7 | 8 | | Brenham Economic Development Foundation; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A committed champion of her community, |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Ms. Eckermann is the director of Tourism and Marketing for Brenham; |

| 10 | 11 | | she is credited with leading the revitalization of the city's |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | downtown area and the implementation of a number of popular |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | family-friendly events, including the Uptown Swirl, the Spring Eggs |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Art Walk, and the Hot Nights, Cool Tunes Summer Concert Series; |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | moreover, under her leadership, Brenham has been recognized by the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | National Trust for Historic Preservation for its public improvement |

| 16 | 17 | | projects; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Eckermann counts among her top achievements the |

| 18 | 19 | | "Save Our Simon" project, a successful capital campaign in which |

| 19 | 20 | | the Simon Theatre was fully restored; designed by renowned Texas |

| 20 | 21 | | architect Alfred C. Finn in 1925, the property has been expanded to |

| 21 | 22 | | encompass the Barnhill Center at Historic Simon Theatre, a |

| 22 | 23 | | multipurpose venue located in the heart of downtown Brenham; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Engaged with all aspects of civic life, |

| 24 | 25 | | Ms. Eckermann volunteers with the Brenham Independent School |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | District, and she is a bell ringer for her church music ministry; |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Jennifer Eckermann has greatly benefited her fellow |

| 28 | 29 | | citizens through her wide-ranging contributions to the community, |

| 29 | 30 | | and she is indeed a deserving recipient of this prestigious |

| 30 | 31 | | accolade; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
