5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 19 Fellows of the 2021 Moreno/Rangel Legislative |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The program is sponsored by the Mexican American |

9 | 10 | | Legislative Leadership Foundation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan |

10 | 11 | | organization established by the Mexican American Legislative |

11 | 12 | | Caucus to foster the development of leadership skills among Latino |
---|
12 | 13 | | youth; in 2003, the foundation launched its fellowship to offer |
---|
13 | 14 | | outstanding undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to |
---|
14 | 15 | | gain firsthand experience in the functions and operations of the |
---|
15 | 16 | | Texas House of Representatives during a legislative session; it is |
---|
16 | 17 | | named in honor of the late Paul C. Moreno, the longest-serving |
---|
17 | 18 | | Hispanic member of the house, and the late Irma Rangel, the first |

18 | 19 | | Mexican American woman to serve in the Texas Legislature; and |

19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In 2021, the program welcomed the largest class of |

34 | 35 | | insights into the nature of public service and the many ways in |

36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, The Fellows of the 2021 Moreno/Rangel Legislative |

39 | 40 | | recognition for their fine work; now, therefore, be it |
