| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Maria de la Luz |

| 6 | 7 | | Cantu-Salazar of Universal City were greatly saddened by her |

| 7 | 8 | | passing on January 17, 2021, at the age of 82; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Fondly known as "Lucha" to family and friends, Maria |

| 9 | 10 | | Salazar was born on September 2, 1938, and she grew up with the |

| 10 | 11 | | companionship of five siblings, Guadalupe, Juan, Teodulo, Cruz, and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Josefa; and |

| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A talented seamstress, Mrs. Salazar was admired for |

| 13 | 14 | | her skill in designing clothes; she also enjoyed tending to her |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | garden and taking care of her beloved dogs; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Above all, Mrs. Salazar cherished time spent with |

| 16 | 17 | | her loved ones; she was devoted to her husband, Placido Salazar, |

| 17 | 18 | | with whom she shared nearly six and a half decades of marriage, and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | she took great pride in their children, Placido, Rogelio, Enrique, |

| 19 | 20 | | Eduardo, Norma, and Javier; through the years, she had the pleasure |

| 20 | 21 | | of seeing her family grow to include numerous grandchildren, |

| 21 | 22 | | great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Maria Salazar enjoyed a life that was rich in the |

| 23 | 24 | | intangibles that matter most, and she will be deeply missed by all |

| 24 | 25 | | those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Maria de la Luz |

| 27 | 28 | | Cantu-Salazar and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her |

| 28 | 29 | | family and to her many friends; and, be it further |
