| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of a civic-minded Texan is indeed |

| 6 | 7 | | cause for celebration, and Mary Susan Lamb Jenkins is marking this |

| 7 | 8 | | significant milestone in her life on March 19, 2021; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Marguerite Kavanaugh Splane and |

| 9 | 10 | | Clarence William Lamb Sr., the former Sue Lamb was born in Houston |

| 10 | 11 | | in 1931; she graduated from Liberty High School and Sam Houston |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | State University and embarked on a career in education; over the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | years, she taught English in Baytown, Liberty, and Anahuac, where |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | she was a sponsor for cheerleading and UIL; she always ensured that |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | her students were familiar with parliamentary procedure; along the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | way, she also worked briefly for Humble Oil in Houston; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Jenkins joined the Republican Party in 1952, |

| 17 | 18 | | inspired by General Dwight D. Eisenhower's military service during |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | World War II; committed to the party's values and ideals, she |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | persuaded her mother and many others to follow her example; she |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | became one of the 10 founding members of the Chambers County |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Republican Women, and her affiliation with the party is considered |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | the longest in the area; in addition, she has served on the board of |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | the Chambers County Museum at Wallisville, and she is a member of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Baytown Quilt Guild, |

| 25 | 26 | | and the Anahuac Fine Arts Club; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through her dedication to her community, Sue Jenkins |

| 27 | 28 | | has earned the respect and admiration of all who are privileged to |

| 28 | 29 | | know her, and this special occasion provides a welcome opportunity |

| 29 | 30 | | to recognize her many contributions; now, therefore, be it |
