| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout is an achievement shared by |

| 6 | 7 | | only a select few, and the attainment of this significant honor on |

| 7 | 8 | | October 27, 2020, by Garrison Douglas Spencer of Lumberton heralds |

| 8 | 9 | | a future bright with opportunity and promise; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Spencer has mastered a number of important |

| 10 | 11 | | skills in his quest to become an Eagle Scout; he has earned 31 merit |

| 11 | 12 | | badges requiring expertise in such diverse areas as first aid, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | personal fitness, and environmental science, as well as two Eagle |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Palm awards; moreover, he has gained experience in leadership and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | teamwork while undertaking an Eagle Scout project at Village Creek |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | State Park in Lumberton, which involved building a ramp that will |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | ease access for all patrons entering the park; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This fine young Texan has ably served his peers in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Scouts BSA Troop No. 9 and Three Rivers Council in a variety of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | leadership roles, and in so doing, he has exemplified the many |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | positive traits for which Boy Scouts are renowned; a senior at |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Lumberton High School, he is a member of the track team and the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Mighty Raider Band and plans to attend Lamar University following |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | graduation to pursue a degree in business and finance; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In fulfilling the rigorous requirements for |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | attaining the Eagle Scout insignia, Garrison Spencer has |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Scouts BSA and its ideals, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | and the knowledge and confidence he has acquired along the way will |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | indeed serve him well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Garrison Douglas Spencer on |

| 31 | 32 | | achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best |
