45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
67 passing of William Raymond Arrington Jr. of Austin on October 17,
78 2020, at the age of 75; and
89 WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on January 12, 1945, Bill Arrington
910 was the adopted son of William and Gladys Arrington, and he grew up
1011 with a sister, Anita; in 1963, he graduated from Highland Park High
1112 School and went on to attend Southwest Texas State College;
1213 answering his nation's call to duty, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1965
1314 and served as a fire control technician until 1969; he received the
1415 National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with
1516 one Bronze Star; and
1617 WHEREAS, Bill Arrington worked for a variety of
1718 organizations, including Neeley Vending Company, Highland Lanes,
1819 and Greyhound bus lines; he was subsequently employed by the United
1920 States Postal Service, and he enjoyed a career as a letter carrier
2021 that spanned 26 years, until his retirement in 2013; in his leisure
2122 time, he delighted in watching Jeopardy!, NCIS, and his favorite
2223 movie, Jumanji, and he was a devoted fan of the Seattle Seahawks;
2324 and
2425 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Bill Arrington benefited from
2526 the love and support of his wife, Carol, and he took pride in his
2627 three children, Charla, Yancy, and Stacey; through the years, he
2728 had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include four
2829 grandchildren, Ashley, Hailey, Trevor, and Tiffany, and two
2930 great-grandchildren, Dazdyn and Maverick, and later in life he was
3031 delighted to discover that he had three biological siblings,
3132 Michael, Anita, and Patrick; he treasured time spent with his
3233 beloved cat, Gibbs, and he held the memories of his cats Abbey,
3334 Smokey, Callie, and Poco close in his heart; and
3435 WHEREAS, Possessed of a quick wit and delightful sense of
3536 humor, Bill Arrington brightened the world for all who knew him, and
3637 his loved ones will always remember him with great admiration and
3738 affection; now, therefore, be it
3839 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3940 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William Raymond
4041 Arrington Jr. and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
4142 family and to his many friends; and, be it further
4243 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4344 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4445 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill
4546 Arrington.
