| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of William Raymond Arrington Jr. of Austin on October 17, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2020, at the age of 75; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on January 12, 1945, Bill Arrington |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | was the adopted son of William and Gladys Arrington, and he grew up |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | with a sister, Anita; in 1963, he graduated from Highland Park High |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | School and went on to attend Southwest Texas State College; |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | answering his nation's call to duty, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and served as a fire control technician until 1969; he received the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | one Bronze Star; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Bill Arrington worked for a variety of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | organizations, including Neeley Vending Company, Highland Lanes, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and Greyhound bus lines; he was subsequently employed by the United |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | States Postal Service, and he enjoyed a career as a letter carrier |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | that spanned 26 years, until his retirement in 2013; in his leisure |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | time, he delighted in watching Jeopardy!, NCIS, and his favorite |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | movie, Jumanji, and he was a devoted fan of the Seattle Seahawks; |
|---|

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Bill Arrington benefited from |

| 25 | 26 | | the love and support of his wife, Carol, and he took pride in his |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | three children, Charla, Yancy, and Stacey; through the years, he |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include four |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | grandchildren, Ashley, Hailey, Trevor, and Tiffany, and two |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | great-grandchildren, Dazdyn and Maverick, and later in life he was |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | delighted to discover that he had three biological siblings, |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Michael, Anita, and Patrick; he treasured time spent with his |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | beloved cat, Gibbs, and he held the memories of his cats Abbey, |

| 33 | 34 | | Smokey, Callie, and Poco close in his heart; and |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Possessed of a quick wit and delightful sense of |

| 35 | 36 | | humor, Bill Arrington brightened the world for all who knew him, and |

| 36 | 37 | | his loved ones will always remember him with great admiration and |

| 37 | 38 | | affection; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 39 | 40 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William Raymond |

| 40 | 41 | | Arrington Jr. and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |

| 41 | 42 | | family and to his many friends; and, be it further |

| 42 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

|---|
