| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Linda Tovar has been selected as the 2020 Woman of |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the chamber honors individuals for their |

| 8 | 9 | | exceptional commitment to civic engagement and for their efforts to |

| 9 | 10 | | benefit the local community; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Tovar is senior manager of public affairs for |

| 11 | 12 | | H-E-B Border Region, and in that role, she oversees the company's |

| 12 | 13 | | philanthropic activities in the Rio Grande Valley; a graduate of |

| 13 | 14 | | The University of Texas-Pan American, she has been recognized as a |

| 14 | 15 | | UTPA Pillar of Success, and in 2015, the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic |

| 15 | 16 | | Chamber of Commerce named her a Professional Woman of Distinction; |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A dedicated advocate for health and education, |

| 18 | 19 | | Ms. Tovar has given generously of her time and talents through her |

| 19 | 20 | | involvement with such community events as the Edinburg 10K, the |

| 20 | 21 | | Edinburg Cares Food Drive, and the Texas Cook'Em High Steaks |

| 21 | 22 | | barbeque contest, which funds scholarships for veterans; moreover, |

| 22 | 23 | | she has served on the boards of the Valley Alliance of Mentors for |

| 23 | 24 | | Opportunities and Scholarships (VAMOS) and Easterseals Rio Grande |

| 24 | 25 | | Valley; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Linda Tovar has demonstrated a lasting commitment to |

| 26 | 27 | | making Edinburg a better place for all, and in so doing, she has |

| 27 | 28 | | earned the deep respect and appreciation of her fellow residents; |
