| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |

| 6 | 7 | | a close with the passing of Dr. Jose Luis Aliseda of McAllen on |

| 7 | 8 | | September 2, 2020; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Jose Aliseda was born in Badajoz, Spain, in 1934; |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | his father was a senator in the Republican government, and his |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | family was forced to move at the height of the Spanish Civil War, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | first to France and then ultimately to Mexico City, which was |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | welcoming war refugees; he went on to work at his father's pharmacy, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and it was there that he met the love of his life, the former Laura |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Rios; they exchanged wedding vows on October 23, 1955, embarking on |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | a journey together that would span nearly six and a half decades; |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The couple subsequently settled in the Chicago area, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | where Dr. Aliseda completed his residency in anesthesiology and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | entered practice at Little Company of Mary and at Illinois Masonic |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Hospitals; drafted by the U.S. Army in 1968, he worked in mobile |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | hospitals along the Vietnam border for several years and rose to the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | rank of lieutenant colonel; in 1973, Dr. Aliseda and his family |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | relocated to McAllen, where his anesthesiology group provided |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | services to hospitals across the Rio Grande Valley until his |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | retirement; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Aliseda enjoyed the love |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | and support of his wife, who preceded him in death on August 19, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | 2020; he was the devoted father of three children, Jose, Tina, and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Ernie, and he took great pride in his eight grandchildren, Ryan, |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Lynn Marie, Larry, Cristina, Nicolas, Allie, Sofia, and Natali; |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | possessed of an insatiable curiosity, he delighted in traveling, |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | reading, and studying history; and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Although Jose Aliseda's death has brought great |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | sorrow to those who loved him, his life was an inspiring example of |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | the good that one person can accomplish; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dr. Jose Luis |

| 38 | 39 | | Aliseda; and, be it further |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 40 | 41 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 41 | 42 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Jose |
