H.R. No. 400 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Duane Francis Snell of Lamesa, who died on March 13, 2021, at the age of 73; and WHEREAS, Duane Snell was born in Lamesa, Texas, on July 15, 1947, to F.E. "Bud" and Phyllis Snell, and he grew up with one sister, Jolene; he shared a rewarding marriage of 51 years with his wife, Vicki Smith Snell, and he was the proud father of two children, Traci and Bradley; later in life, he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family two grandsons, Deakin and Dalton, as well as a great-granddaughter, Harper; and WHEREAS, Mr. Snell was for many of his early years a cotton farmer in the small community of Klondike in Patricia, Texas, spending his days cultivating the fertile land of West Texas; and later he was a respected member of the Lamesa business community as a crop insurance agent with Matlock & Associates, and as a real estate broker for 25 years to his firm, Duane Snell Real Estate; Mr. Snell and his wife, Vicki, were known to give generously of their time and financial support to many worthy causes such as the local school district and several civic organizations; and WHEREAS, Duane was active over the years with his weekly golf group at Lamesa Country Club where loud laughter, bad jokes, and golf stories were frequently shared after the day's round; and Mr. Snell was also known to be an accomplished manufacturer of cigar box guitars, as well as a bassist in an outlaw bluegrass and country garage band playing local events and fairs; and WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a hardworking professional, Duane Snell lived a rich and purposeful life, and those he leaves behind will forever cherish their memories of this kind, humorous, and caring man; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Duane Snell and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Vicki Snell; to his mother, Phyllis Snell; to his sister, Jolene Haney; to his children, Traci Stokes and her husband, Brad Stokes, and Bradley Snell; to his grandsons, Deakin Stokes and his wife, Sara, and Dalton Stokes; to his great-granddaughter, Harper Jane Stokes; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Duane Francis Snell.
