| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Harker Heights Assistant City Manager Jerry Bark has |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1937, TRAPS works to advance the parks, |

| 9 | 10 | | recreation, and leisure services profession through connection, |

| 10 | 11 | | advocacy, resources, and education; each year, the organization |

| 11 | 12 | | presents the Dan Whitworth Fellow Award, its highest honor, to an |

| 12 | 13 | | individual who has demonstrated at least a decade of outstanding |

| 13 | 14 | | service to the parks and recreation field; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Prior to becoming the assistant city manager for |

| 15 | 16 | | Harker Heights in 2018, Jerry Bark served as the first director of |

| 16 | 17 | | the Harker Heights Parks and Recreation Department; during his |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | 25-year tenure, the department grew from three small neighborhood |

| 18 | 19 | | parks to two community facilities and more than 190 acres of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | dedicated parkland; for many years, he was also the TRAPS |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Legislative Committee Chair, and he played a vital role in |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | supporting legislation to secure funding for Texas parks through |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | sales tax revenues; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Bark has made significant contributions to |

| 24 | 25 | | advancing the mission of the Texas Recreation and Park Society, and |

| 25 | 26 | | he is truly deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be |
