| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Officer Mitchell Aaron Penton of the Dallas Police |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in Arlington on March 29, 1993, to Timothy and |

| 10 | 11 | | Kathy Penton, Mitchell Penton grew up with the companionship of two |

| 11 | 12 | | siblings, Garrett and Sydney; after graduating from Richardson High |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | School in 2011, he attended Rogers State University in Oklahoma, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | where he demonstrated his athletic talent as a goalkeeper for the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | school's soccer team; he went on to earn his degree in criminal |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | justice in 2015; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Officer Penton completed his police academy |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | training on November 1, 2019, and joined the Dallas Police |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Department; assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division, he embraced |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | his calling in law enforcement, and he was recognized as a promising |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | young officer with a bright future ahead of him; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Officer Penton cherished the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | relationship he shared with his wife, Noel Bergenske Penton; he |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | became a proud stepfather to her son, and the couple were eagerly |

| 24 | 25 | | anticipating the birth of their first child together; in his |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed playing soccer, woodworking, and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | spending quality time with his loved ones; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The untimely death of Officer Mitchell Penton has |

| 28 | 29 | | profoundly saddened everyone who was privileged to know this |

| 29 | 30 | | courageous and dedicated young man, but his service and sacrifice |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | in behalf of his community will forever be remembered; now, |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
