45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Officer Mitchell Aaron Penton of the Dallas Police
67 Department died in the line of duty on February 13, 2021, at the age
78 of 27, bringing a tragic loss to his family, friends, and community;
89 and
910 WHEREAS, Born in Arlington on March 29, 1993, to Timothy and
1011 Kathy Penton, Mitchell Penton grew up with the companionship of two
1112 siblings, Garrett and Sydney; after graduating from Richardson High
1213 School in 2011, he attended Rogers State University in Oklahoma,
1314 where he demonstrated his athletic talent as a goalkeeper for the
1415 school's soccer team; he went on to earn his degree in criminal
1516 justice in 2015; and
1617 WHEREAS, Officer Penton completed his police academy
1718 training on November 1, 2019, and joined the Dallas Police
1819 Department; assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division, he embraced
1920 his calling in law enforcement, and he was recognized as a promising
2021 young officer with a bright future ahead of him; and
2122 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Officer Penton cherished the
2223 relationship he shared with his wife, Noel Bergenske Penton; he
2324 became a proud stepfather to her son, and the couple were eagerly
2425 anticipating the birth of their first child together; in his
2526 leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed playing soccer, woodworking, and
2627 spending quality time with his loved ones; and
2728 WHEREAS, The untimely death of Officer Mitchell Penton has
2829 profoundly saddened everyone who was privileged to know this
2930 courageous and dedicated young man, but his service and sacrifice
3031 in behalf of his community will forever be remembered; now,
3132 therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer Mitchell
3435 Aaron Penton and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his
3536 family, to his friends, and to his brothers and sisters in blue;
3637 and, be it further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3940 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Officer
4041 Mitchell Aaron Penton.
