| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |

| 6 | 7 | | memories of David Matthew Strickland of Wichita Falls, who died on |

| 7 | 8 | | February 16, 2021, at the age of 58; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, David Strickland was born in Wichita Falls on March |

| 9 | 10 | | 22, 1962, to Juanell and Omar "Butch" Strickland, and he grew up |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | with two brothers, Kenneth and Michael Don; a 1980 graduate of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Wichita Falls High School, he worked for Midwestern State |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | University as an electronics technician for 22 years, until his |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | retirement in January 2021; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a keen practical intelligence, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Mr. Strickland knew how to fix or solve nearly any problem, whether |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | it involved carpentry, automobile repair, or one of his children's |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | math exercises, and he loved sharing his expertise and passing his |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | skills along to others; he was also a man of deep faith, and as a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | member of the Disciples Men group, he helped build churches and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | other facilities for congregations all over the Lone Star State; in |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | April 2017, he was named Layman of the Year by the Disciples Men; |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Strickland was a loving husband to his wife of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | 13 years, Stacey, and he was a devoted father to his children and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | stepchildren, Sarah, Matt, Darrell, Emily, Kathleen, and Ashley; |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | with the passing years, he was delighted to welcome into his family |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | 14 grandchildren, Jacob, Allie, Blake, Charlie, Alice, Abraham, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Elizabeth, Lena, Jacob, David, Wesson, Grayson, Liam, and Alek, and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | three great-grandchildren, Lila, Laveya, and Galileo; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, David Strickland lived a rich and purposeful life |

| 31 | 32 | | dedicated to his family and his faith, and those who were privileged |

| 32 | 33 | | to share in his love and affection will forever hold him close in |

| 33 | 34 | | their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
