| 9 | 10 | | distinctive styles, the Lone Star State has a history of producing |

| 10 | 11 | | music in a vast range of genres, and such talented artists as |

| 11 | 12 | | Beyoncé, Gary Clark Jr., Flaco Jimenez, George Strait, Norah Jones, |

| 12 | 13 | | the Black Pumas, and Willie Nelson have all called Texas home; and |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, To serve the state's vibrant music community, the |

| 14 | 15 | | Recording Academy, the organization responsible for the Grammy |

| 15 | 16 | | Awards, established a Texas chapter in 1998, and this year, 23 music |

| 16 | 17 | | professionals who were born or live in Texas have received 37 |

| 17 | 18 | | nominations at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in March 2021; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Before the pandemic, more than 210,000 jobs were |

| 19 | 20 | | tied to the music industry in Texas, and each year, live music |

| 20 | 21 | | festivals have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in |

| 21 | 22 | | economic activity; as a reflection of its support for this |

| 22 | 23 | | important commercial sector, the Texas Legislature created the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Texas Music Office, which opened its doors in 1990; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The innovative musicians of the Lone Star State are |

| 25 | 26 | | furthering an exceptional legacy of artistic achievement, and in so |

| 26 | 27 | | doing, they are making a notable contribution to the culture and |

| 27 | 28 | | economy of Texas; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 30, 2021, as Texas Music |
