| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, On February 2, 2021, Denton County hosted its first |

| 6 | 7 | | drive-through COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Texas Motor Speedway, |

| 7 | 8 | | which at the time was the largest vaccination effort of its kind in |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | the state; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Texas Motor Speedway's 131-acre parking lot was |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | converted into 16 lanes, where 400 staff and volunteers were on hand |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | to administer vaccines and screen and monitor vaccine recipients; |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | approximately 9,100 individuals were immunized on the first day of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the drive-through clinic, and within three days Denton County |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | provided the vaccine to more than 27,000 individuals; history was |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | made again on March 4, 2021, when a recipient at the Texas Motor |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Speedway received the 100,000th COVID-19 vaccination; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A number of individuals have devoted time and effort |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | to making the clinic a success; those deserving of recognition for |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | their contributions include Denton County Judge Andy Eads, the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Denton County Commissioners Court, Denton County Public Health, the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Denton County Medical Reserve Corps, the leadership of Texas Motor |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Speedway, local municipalities throughout the region, first |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | responders, medical personnel, and all volunteers who helped staff |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | the clinic; special thanks is also owed to the Texas Department of |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | State Health Services and the Texas Division of Emergency |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Management under the leadership of Governor Greg Abbott for their |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | support, as well as to the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Denton County and its partners are planning more |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | clinics for the future as additional doses arrive, and the |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | drive-through COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Texas Motor Speedway |

| 31 | 32 | | continues to serve as the model for vaccination clinics across the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | state and nation; and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, By joining together in this collaborative |

| 34 | 35 | | undertaking, these organizations and individuals are helping to |

| 35 | 36 | | swiftly immunize more Texans and bring an end to the COVID-19 crisis |

| 36 | 37 | | in the community, and it is a pleasure to commend them on a job well |

| 37 | 38 | | done; now, therefore, be it |

| 38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 39 | 40 | | Legislature hereby recognize Denton County and its partners for |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | hosting one of the largest drive-through COVID-19 vaccination |

| 41 | 42 | | clinics in the state and extend to all those involved sincere best |

| 42 | 43 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
